Hi!
My name is Karen Alexander. I am a children's poet and reading specialist.
I write children's poetry that uses the 3 R's for reading success, that's
Rhyme, Rhythm, and Repetition! I perform my poems from
Poetry Punch: Punchline Rhymes for the Tweenage Stage with 4th - 6th
graders at school assemblies. I perform poems from
Once Upon a Seaside and Fly Away Fall with
K-3rd graders. I give teacher workshops on Poetry Performance and using
poetry to promote literacy. Since poetry begs to be heard, I have combined
favorite seasonal and holiday poems from all my books and created a CD
poetry-play entitled Climbing the Poet-tree!
I am also a PD, that's Poetry Doctor! I believe laughter is the best medicine and have written two mid-life ABC limerick books, A to ProZac: An Alphabet Book for Mid-life Girls and A to Zorro: An Alphabet Book for Mid-life Boys. Having been a classroom teacher for many years, I know how important a daily shot of humor is! My books entitled Kindergarten Drop-Out: A to Zombie and Teacher Tears: Poems to Laugh and Cry Out Loud are liable to cause the giggle-pops but will energize your endorphins!
So kids(from 5 to 95) take a poetry break for a rhythmic, rhyming, giggling good time.....................and call me in the morning!
